My next 2-person show at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville is still more than four months away and I’m hard at work on a new body of paintings for the show. Until then, I’d like to invite you to save the date for the opening reception: September 7, 2013 (time still TBD).

Once again I will be partnering with Alan J. Klawans; we’ve had a couple of great shows these last two years and I can’t wait for our third collaboration.

Until September, here are a couple previews of paintings that I plan to exhibit in the show (which will run from September 6 – October 6).

Turing Patterns, Tessellations, & Tech

I’ll be one of the speakers at tonight’s “Arts, Culture, Tech, & Community” meetup at Artworks in Trenton. (19 Everett Alley, Trenton, New Jersey, Wednesday, March 27, from 6:00-8:00pm). This is a monthly gathering of people interested in discussing the uses of technology in art. My talk, a brief 15-20 minutes or so, will be about how I use technology to help design my paintings. I’ll share several different tools I’ve used to create Turing Patterns, how to play around with tessellations (repeating patterns that fill the plane), and other technologies I’ve used to make art. A Brand New AndrewWerth.com

I’m very pleased to announce the brand new AndrewWerth.com website! It’s been completely redesigned to be easier to read and more useful for visitors (as well as easier to maintain for me). It is now a “responsive” website, meaning that it should work well on mobile devices, tablets, laptops, and desktops, resizing and adjusting elements on the screen so that they’re easier to read no matter the size of your device.

The most important new feature, though, is an expanded and more powerful gallery section (choose “Paintings” from the main menu). In my previous website, all of the gallery pages were maintained by hand. Now I have the paintings stored in a database so I am able to exhibit many more works than I had before. You can now select for paintings by size (small/medium/large), support (canvas/panel/etc.), and even by a few other criteria such as finding all works in a series (e.g., all of my “Center of Narrative Gravity” paintings).

I’ve also moved my website to a different hosting provider that I hope will prove to be more reliable and faster at delivering pages to you. It’s been a lot of work and I’m sure there are still a few glitches to be worked out. If you find a problem with the website and would like to let me know about it, please don’t hesitate to use the contact form to drop me a note.

Mercer County Artists 2013

I’m pleased to announce that my painting, “Seeing it Through”, will be in the upcoming “Mercer County Artists 2013″ exhibition at The Gallery @ Mercer County Community College. The show runs from March 5 through April 4, 2013, and there will be an opening reception on Wednesday, March 13, from 5-7:30pm.
