The paintings in my Embodiment series are born through a personal strategy of mark-making that is meditative, reminiscent of the maze drawings I made as a child, while also metaphorically “brainy,” appropriate for this series and also for my own personality. This technique allows for a visually exciting exploration of color and perception which I hope will repay the viewer upon repeated and extended viewing. The paintings deal with the embodied mind, a contemporary theory of mind which says that the way we think about the world is directly shaped by the physical nature of our bodies and that our abstract reasoning processes are largely metaphorical. |

News I've recently, finally, entered the blogosphere with an art-themed blog. In it, I'll be announcing new paintings and upcoming shows, reporting on visits to art galleries and museums, and perhaps even offering an occasional mini-essay or book review related to the art world.
